I have just finished Firstlife by Gena Showalter and I have been in a bookslump for a very long time. It always takes that special book to pull my attention back into reading. And that book for me was Firstlife. It was so good I didnt want to put it down. A lot of people are either all for her Alice in Zombieland series or there for the Firstlife trilogy. I for myself have yet to read her other books. This particular book is about a girl named Ten. What really stuck out to me was that she was obsessed with numbers because it was all she had in the world. Her parents locked her in a asylum because she wouldn't choose troika or myriad. Now troika is a realm full of light. Myriad is a realm made up of dark. If she doesn't choose before she dies, she goes to many ends which is our version of hell. She meets two spirits who are called TL, and ML they are sort of like agents to help you choose which side to go on. The two realms are always fighting each other and they send the TL'S and ML'S to win over another spirit. It wasnt technically a time travel kind of book but thats the feeling I got from it. For a while I've turned my nose down on this book but I am so glad I got into it.
